SIGNINGS/ACCOLADES:
2009 Defensive Dandies Best Defensive Players in the Nation. Players who work their butts off during practice & play to help the team at all costs - back row animals! Alexa Stonish "HONORABLE MENTION"
"Alexa Stonish, Soph., Ward Melville (East Setauket NY) – Still growing at 5-9 and from a good volleyball pedigree (sis Samantha plays for Stetson), Stonish’s defensive and passing skills really are superior, especially given that she just turned 15. “As all volleyball coaches know, the truly great defenders share certain characteristics,” said coach Charles Fernandes. “Speed, a solid extended platform, powerful hands, the ability and strength to play extremely low to the ground, the intelligence and intuition to read the play before it happens, and most importantly a completely fearless disregard for body. Lex has all of these qualities in huge abundance. She is one of the best “big game”–“big point” players we have ever had in our program.” Way to Go Lex !!!
CONGRATULATIONS SENIORS!
Three College Bound Scholarship Volleyball Players!

Alexa Santiago signs with Georgian Court University
2008 Top Sophomores! The Best High School Sophomores in the Country Haley Blunt "ELITE HONORABLE MENTION"
PrepVolleyball.com selected 279 sophomores of distinction that the nation enjoyed watching this past fall: "Before we get to the honorees, you should know that this is by far the hardest list we do. The Sophomore list is such a massive project. On the one hand, we are still getting to know these athletes. On the other, they are already making their marks on high school varsity programs across the nation."
Haley Blunt, 5-9 OH, Ward Melville (East Setauket NY) – A Suffolk County “Rookie of the Year” is the next big gun for the Patriots. Possessing a HUGE arm that she is just beginning to learn how to use, Blunt finished 2008 with 186 kills in 330 swings and showed great improvement in serve-receive and on defense, where she had only 9 receiving errors and dug up 203 balls. Named All League and All Section in her first year starting, Blunt went from a nice player to have to Ward Melville’s “go-to” by the end of the season. Congratulations Haley !!!
2008 Newsday All-Long Island Girls Volleyball
CHELSEA BRAGA
Long Beach, Outside hitter, So.
Here's an intimidating thought: one of Long Island's most dynamic players still has two years to go. Braga, an All-State selection, is one of Nassau County's rising stars. She had 85 aces, 435 kills, 28 blocks and 221 digs as Long Beach advanced to the Nassau Class AA championship against Massapequa. Braga had 26 kills in that game.
NOELLE MORRISON
Ward Melville, Setter, Jr.
An All-State selection, Morrison's steady play is evident in her assist numbers -- she had 839. She also had 38 aces, 175 digs and 42 blocks. Morrison, the setter on Long Island's Empire State team, was an All-County selection for the second consecutive year after being named Rookie of the Year. She was named one of PrepVolleyball.com's top-100 sophomores in 2007.
2007 Top Sophomores! The Best High School Sophomores in the Country Noelle Morrison "HIGH HONORABLE MENTION"
PrepVolleyball.com selected 374 sophomores of distinction the nation enjoyed watching this past fall: "Before we get to the honorees, you should know that this is by far the hardest list we do. The Sophomore list is such a massive project. On the one hand, we are still getting to know these athletes. On the other, they are already making their marks on high school varsity programs across the nation." Noelle Morrison, 5-10 S, Ward Melville (East Setauket NY) – Morrison, younger sister of Temple setter Jackie Morrison, put up 738 assists for one of the best teams in New York. Voted “Rookie of the Year,” Morrison also was an All-Section pick for the Patriots, who won a fifth consecutive County (NY Section XI) Championship and reached the state Elite 8 in Class AA. “Noelle has already developed a mature court sense and unique ability to read opponents and find the best hitter for each situation,” said coach Charlie Fernandes.

Hi Fern
This is Andrea Hom. I’m just writing you this quick note because I really wanted to thank you for everything you and United did for me regarding volleyball. I really loved playing for United. It was definitely one of the best decisions I ever made for my volleyball career.
This year, I played volleyball for Saint Joseph’s college in Patchogue. I played as a Libero/DS and I really loved it. We came in second in the play-offs losing to Russell Sage in the Skyline Conference Championship game. I just wanted to let you know how well I was doing and that I really appreciate what your club does for people. I came from a high school with a very weak volleyball program. You guys at United really helped me to become the volleyball player that I wanted to be. I learned so much playing for United. I remember being at my first practice last year and just watching how well everyone played and how helpful and knowledgeable the coaches were. I was speechless. Playing for United was a whole new level of volleyball. You all made me push myself to be better every practice.
If I didn't play for United I don’t think I would have ever made the Saint Joseph’s team. I even got a lot of playing time. You all helped me with my skills and with my confidence. I just wish I joined United sooner. Thank you all for everything.
